7SHARESShareShareSharePrintMailGooglePinterestDiggRedditStumbleuponDeliciousBufferTumblr Compliance and regulations can seem like a daunting piece of the puzzle when considering converting a credit card portfolio. However, CARD Act regulations are an important piece of the planning processes for financial institutions anticipating a conversion from one credit card issuer to the next. It’s not only important for operations staff to know and apply the requirements; it’s also key for cardmember-facing employees to have a solid understanding of the rules so they can easily answer member questions. Here are just a few examples of the regulatory requirements of which staff should be aware during a conversion:Protected Balances – Any balance already on the card is protected at the prior rate until paid off. Your staff should carefully review statements following conversion to ensure protected balances are displaying accurately at the prior rate.Credit Bureau Reporting – Teams must review thoroughly to ensure there are no negative impacts during the reporting shifts. Common problems to look for are double reporting of the old and new cards, inflated balances or late payments.Late Fees – If there is a new payments address, late fees must be suspended on accounts for 60 days. Make sure you have clearly communicated your new payment instructions multiple times to cardholders. continue reading »

Euthanasia Prevention Coalition 31 July 2017Family First Comment: Contrary to the rhetoric that you may hear through the media!“This increase in the number of attempts to legalize assisted suicide is notable due to the fact that such bills have greater than a 99 percent failure rate. Only three have been signed into law in the last 23 years. In spite of the volume of bills introduced this past year, 100 percent of these attempts failed while Alabama tightened their assisted suicide statute.”www.rejectassistedsuicide.nzInitial data from a research study by Dr. Jacqueline H. Abernathy at Tarleton State University finds a staggering increase in the number of attempts to legalize assisted suicide in U.S. over the past year, in spite of an overwhelming failure rate associated with such legislation: fewer than one percent of all assisted suicide bills become law.The analysis, to be presented at the 2017 National Euthanasia Symposium in Toronto on October 28, included all bills introduced in 36 states and the District of Columbia since 1994. Of the 231 total bills, nearly one-fifth (43 bills) were introduced just this year in 26 states and all attempts failed. This increase in the number of attempts to legalize assisted suicide is notable due to the fact that such bills have greater than a 99 percent failure rate. Only three have been signed into law in the last 23 years. In spite of the volume of bills introduced this past year, 100 percent of these attempts failed while Alabama tightened their assisted suicide statute.Only in the last 4 years have any bills passed the legislative process and of the three, only one, Vermont in 2013, was signed into law following standard legislative procedure. California followed in 2015 by resurrecting a defeated bill in an unrelated special session, where processes are abbreviated and legislation is rushed. Similar can be said of Washington DC that recently passed their ordinance through only a city council vote rather than a bicameral legislature. These victories may explain, in part, the staggering increase in the number of bills introduced in other states.READ MORE: http://alexschadenberg.blogspot.co.nz/2017/07/assisted-suicide-legalization-fails-in.html?utm_source=Euthanasia+Prevention+Coalition+Newsletter&utm_campaign=b249d4acda-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2017_07_31&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_105a5cdd2d-b249d4acda-157142057

Jeff Aikey won his career fourth IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s championship – and career 63rd Deery Brothers Summer Series for IMCA Late Models feature – on Monday night at Boone Speedway. Photo by Barry Johnson.BOONE, Iowa (Sept. 1) – The first champion crowned at the 32nd annual IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s has already promised to return to Boone Speedway next September in pursuit of a record fifth crown.Jeff Aikey won the Monday night main event for IMCA Late Models at Boone Speedway, leading all 50 laps. While earning his career-leading 63rd Deery Brothers Summer Series victory – and $3,300 – Aikey also matched the division record of four Super Nationals titles held by Gary Webb. Tyler Bruening started inside Aikey on the front row and ran second most of the way. Charlie McKenna took over the spot following the first restart of the night, on lap 40; series point leader Justin Kay passed McKenna after a restart on the next circuit and chased Aikey to the checkers. “I’ll come back next year and try to get number five,” Aikey said. “All four of my Super Nationals (1995, 2004 and 2013) have been special. Kay has been running so strong this season and that’s what makes this win so good.”McKenna, Andy Eckrich and Bruening completed the top five. Aikey and Bruening caught up with the back of the field on the ninth circuit; Aikey stretched his lead out before Bruening and McKenna cleared lapped traffic on lap 28 and cut his advantage to a couple car lengths. The lap 40 yellow took lapped cars out of the equation. Aikey pulled away to win by a comfortable margin after the next restart.“I knew somebody was going to have an awfully good car to beat me tonight because my car was on,” he said. “Through (turns) three and four, right through the middle, it just bit. I knew nobody was going to catch me in that corner.”Darrel DeFrance was the $250 Sunoco Race Fuels feature qualifier drawing winner. RelatedPosts Nigeria dying under Buhari’s jackboot, by Tunde Odesola Edo poll: APC supporters commend Buhari for providing level playing field Buhari holds closed-door meeting with Ghana’s President President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday in Abuja called on private sector investors to join hands with the government in youth and sports development in the country. The President made the call when he received the “Torch of Unity” and flag-off of its movement across Nigeria, heralding the National Sports Festival scheduled to hold in Benin City, the Edo State capital, in March this year. He reiterated his administration’s commitment to continue supporting and providing the enabling environment for the development of sports at all levels. He said: “I am pleased to receive the National Sports Festival ‘Torch of Unity’. It is a symbolic representation of the Unity, Peace and Solidarity amongst Nigerians, especially the athletes and officials in the 36 States of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory. “Since the inception of the National Sports Festival in 1973, the Games have been a useful avenue for interaction, integration for our youth, sportsmen and women and a platform for states to showcase their best in sports. “It is for this reason that the Federal Government intervened to host the last edition of the Festival in the FCT in order to salvage the sports fiesta from permanent closure. “I wish to commend the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development and the Federal Capital Territory for hosting the event in 2018.” On sports development in the country, the President applauded the Ministry for initiating the Adopt an Athlete or Stadium Campaign, noting: “It is one of the useful ways to create opportunities for participation by firms and individuals.” He, therefore, invited sports lovers and enthusiasts to take advantage of the Adoption Campaign to be part of raising the banner of sports in Nigeria. On the 2020 Olympics and Paralympic in Tokyo, Japan, scheduled for July 24 to August 9 and August 25 to September 6, 2020 respectively, the President used the occasion with the sports fraternity to wish the country’s athletes the best of luck at the games. He urged them to be good ambassadors. In his remarks, the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare, said with the flag off, the Torch of Unity is expected to move round all the States and the Federal Capital Territory before finally arriving Benin City on March 22 for the opening ceremony of the 20th Edition of the “Nigeria Olympics”.Tags: Edo State CapitalMuhammadu BuhariNational Sports FestivalTorch of Unity

BASSETERRE, St Kitts (CMC) – Raewin Senior’s hundred put Jamaica in charge of their third round game in the Regional Under-19 Championship against Trinidad and Tobago, but the reigning champions were fighting back on the second day at Molineaux.Senior carved out a wonderful 120 as Jamaica were dismissed for 251 in their first innings, to secure a crucial 98-run lead.At the close, however, T&T were rallying on 95 for two – just three runs shy of cancelling out their deficit.Resuming the day on 106 for seven in reply to T&T’s 153, Jamaica flourished through the efforts of Senior, while David Bird supported with an invaluable 35.Senior, starting on 26, played well to strike 12 fours and two sixes in an innings spanning 206 deliveries and four hours.Bird, meanwhile, converted his overnight three into 35, an innings that required 78 balls and included a single four.Together, they added 96 for the eighth wicket to frustrate the Trinidadians and carve out an important lead. When they were separated, Senior found an ally in number 11 Kishawn Graham (9 not out) to put on 41 for the last wicket.Left-arm spinner Justyn Gangoo failed to add to his overnight tally and finished with three for 33 while off-spinners Avinash Mahabirsingh (2-29) and Aaron Maniram (2-50), along with new-ball bowler Joshua James (2-51) all ended with two wickets each.T&T had the worst possible start to their second innings when Navin Bidaisee perished for two with as many runs on the board but Leonardo Julien struck 54 and Sachin Seecharan, an unbeaten 34, to stabilise the innings.Julien faced 90 deliveries and crunched six fours and two sixes while Seecharan hit four fours in his 59-ball innings, in a 93-run stand for the second wicket.

Griffin declined to identify the players, citing medical privacy laws. The positive tests occurred on June 23, the first day all members of the team were tested as part of the NBA’s plan to restart the season, which was suspended in mid-March because of the pandemic. Griffin says the Pelicans have had no players test positive since.“The league has a system in place that was designed to catch these cases. That system worked and we’re just going to deal with it the best we can moving forward,” Griffin said. “The league is relying both on the CDC and their own medical experts and the players’ union medical experts on this, and we’re going to continue to follow those guidelines.”When the Pelicans return to action on July 30 against Utah at Disney’s ESPN Wide World of Sports complex outside of Orlando, Florida, they will be 3½ games out of the Western Conference’s final playoff spot with eight games left.Because of the NBA’s decision to base seeding on winning percentage, New Orleans and Sacramento also are effectively one game behind Portland for the ninth spot. This season, finishing ninth — as well as within four games of eighth — offers a “play-in” opportunity to qualify for the postseason by beating the eighth seed two straight times.
